Czech Egyptologists from CU FA Rediscovered the Tomb of Ptahshepses at Saqqara

Czech mission of the Czech Institute of Egyptology at CU FA working in the transitional zone between the pyramid fields of Abusir and Saqqara has made a rare discovery. During two archaeological seasons of 2022 and 2023 it located and thoroughly explored a lost tomb which belonged to a high official Ptahshepses living during the 25th and 24th centuries BC.

New ERC Project on the Joys that Children Seek in Facts

Dr Anežka Kuzmičová from the Institute of Czech Language and Theory of Communication at CU FA has won a prestigious ERC Starting Grant of 1.5 million Euro for a five-year research project exploring children's affective engagements with facts and nonfiction, making her the first ever recipient of an ERC grant in the Social Sciences and Humanities at Charles University.

Dr Barbora Půtová Published a Monograph on the Paintings of Jaroslav Róna

The publication <i>Jaroslav Róna: Apocalypses and Visions</i> was written by an academic from the Institute of Ethnology at CU FA and presents the work of a sculptor, painter, graphic artist, and glass artist. He belongs among the prominent personalities of the contemporary Czech art scene.

Dr Radvan Markus Published a Monograph in Irish on the Most Prominent Irish-Language Work of Modernism

The publication Carnabhal na Marbh was written by an academic from the Centre for Irish Studies which discusses the novel <i>Cré na Cille<i /> by Máirtín Ó Cadhain in the context of the period when translations of the novel started to circulate outside of Ireland. The monograph assesses its place in the canon of world literature.

CU FA’s pronunciation app a “dream come true”

It’s no secret that learning Czech can be tricky when it comes to grammar, vocabulary, or pronunciation. Some would say especially the pronunciation of words sprinkled with Czech diacritics is tough. Recently CU FA rolled out what it hopes will be a game-changer: ProCzeFor, an online state-of-the-art pronunciation app that makes it easier and more fun to learn Czech.

The Office of Commercial Programmes and Cross-Sectoral Cooperation is mainly responsible for the organisation of semester and short-term teaching programmes for international students and individual payers from abroad, their promotion, and coordinating the preparation of new ones and the development of existing commercial study programmes and summer schools.
