1. The 17 th -18 th Century Intellectuals of Mongolia: the First Khalkha
Jetsundampa Zanabazar, Khalkha Zaya Pandita Luvsanprinlei and
Lamyn Gegeen

The three great Buddhist scholars of Khalkha Mongolia of the 17th-18th
centuries, the First Khalkha Jetsundampa Zanabazar, Khalkha Zaya Pandita
Luvsanprinlei and Lamyn Gegeen, influenced greatly Buddhism in Mongolia.
During the lecture their biograpies will be presented briefly and their impact on
different aspects of Buddhism will be demonstrated.
2. Mongols and Bon

The Tibetan Bon religion influenced not only the Tibetan culture. In the present
lecture some connections between Mongols and Bon religion will be shown. Also the
Mongolian translation of the well known Tibetan text on propitiation naga deities, so
called „Klu ‚bum dkar po“ will be discussed, as well as Bon in modern Mongolia.
3. Expedition of the Polish Mongolist Prof. W. Kotwicz to Mongolia in
1912 and Its Impact on Mongolian and Turkic Studies

In summer 1912 the eminent Altaist Professor Władysław Kotwicz organized an
expedition to Khalkha Mongolia with aim to study ancient Turkic and Mongolian
inscriptions. The lecture will present Kotwicz as a scholar, his expedition in
Mongolia and its findings.
4. Tibeto-Mongolica: Past and Present – a seminar
(Wed 14. 5., Celetná 20, room No. 208, 3:50 pm)
This seminar will start from the short presentation of Tibeto-Mongolian contacts. It
will be followed by a discussion in which such questions as „do Tibetans and
Mongols need each other in the modern world“ and „how Tibetologists and
Mongolists react to the Tibeto-Mongolian relations“ will be addressed.
